I have been beyond excited to share this stunningly beautiful floral Hazel Gap Barn wedding. Everything about this day was beautiful, from flowers to the dress to the people and of course the lovely Julia & Dmitrii who chose me to capture their special day.
Floral Hazel Gap Barn Wedding
I fell in love with Julia & Dmitrii’s wedding the moment I arrived to Hazel Gap Barn the morning of the big day. I arrived about an hour early because I was so excited to see what the amazing suppliers Julia & Dmitrii had chosen for their wedding day, had created. I was greeted by a glorious abundance of beautiful florals by the incredibly talented Rebecca at Floraldeco, elegant table display by the lovely team at Save The Date and a stunning cake by Natasha at The Sweet Stuff. What a team! This Floral Hazel Gap Barn wedding was out the box gorgeous.
Julia & Dmitrii had elected to have a first look the morning of the wedding, which was the most amazing idea. We spent time before the guests arrived taking some beautiful portraits of them together in the sunlit courtyard, which would have been impossible later on as it is the space used for the guests to enjoy some drinks and canapes after the ceremony. The images we created are beautiful and romantic and to me are reminiscent of an Italian Olive garden so I’m so, so happy that the couple decided on a first look. It also freed up the time after the ceremony to be enjoyed completely relaxed and free flowing with no interruptions.
Both Julia & Dmitrii are Russian and the guests came from all over the world to celebrate with the lovely couple, so there were a few Russian traditions throughout out the day. I really enjoyed the speeches on the day, instead of having three set speeches as is custom in the UK anyone can say a few words at any time throughout the meal, they just stand up, clink their glass and start speaking. It was relaxed, intimate and a lovely way to share meaningful, warm or funny stories about the bride and groom, not that I understood much of them as they were in a variety of different languages.
We were treated to the most amazing golden hour, and after asking the bride to skirt a wooden fence we spent some time in a neighbouring field with the sheep, capturing some portraits in delicious golden light. The night ended with a stunning first dance from the couple and a surprise Michael Jackson tribute act. I went home absolutely on top of the world from the most wonderful day and feeling incredibility lucky to have shared it with two genuinely lovely people.
Details on the day
Julia wore a stunning silk Jesus Peiro gown with an open back and a delicate floral piece in her hair. Dmitrii looked handsome in a blue suit he had main bespoke in Barcelona. The couple told me it took a good few trips over to Barcelona to get the fit just right! Well it was worth it as they both looked stunning.
Hazel Gap Barn itself it one of the newest venue’s in the portfolio of the fabulous Cripps Barns. I have shot at their Shustoke Farm Barns before and was super excited to see what their work right on my doorstep would be like. Hazel Gap Barn is located on the Welback Estate in Nottinghamshire, somewhere I have visited time and time again, and I love the contemporary mix of rustic barn design and the elegant details and styling that Cripps always manage to create so beautifully. This Floral Hazel Gap Barn Wedding was perfect for Julia & Dmitrii, and the setting suited the summery feel of their day beautifully.
