I’ve been excited to share this alternative outdoor wedding ever since I met the lovely Bride and groom, Heather & Michael, early last year. I don’t often get the opportunity in this country to shoot an outdoor wedding ceremony, but with the exclusively outdoor ceremony space at Bridge House barn in Leicester I knew I was in for a lovely intimate outdoor wedding ceremony.
Bridge House Barn Wedding
The ceremony was conducted by My Perfect Ceremony and had the most amazingly relaxed, warm and intimate feeling. I love how outdoor ceremonies make you feel connected with nature; it seems to ground a wedding into the bigger picture for me, making it feel quite spiritual. The ceremony setting at Bridge House Barn was so beautiful, a little pontoon style structure at the edge of the canal with canal boats quietly sailing past and the large tipi right next to it set beautifully for the wedding breakfast. The couple went for pretty, rustic decor for the tipi, all hand made by the bride, complete with hand calligraphy place settings, home made candles, and milk bottles filled with flowers.
I was even more delighted when Heather contacted me a couple of months before the big day to share the great news that they were expecting a baby! The lovely little baby bump certainly added to the emotions of the day, everyone was utterly delighted to share and celebrate Heather & Michael and their new exciting journey together.
I loved sharing every moments of the day with these two wonderful people, I really felt like I was glimpsing a little taste of something special in their relationship together and the family they have around them. That is what weddings are about for me; yes this wedding was also filled with some stunning creative details – all handmade by the talented bride – and yes the quirky waffle van, the delicious hog roast and the lively evening live music were great fun, but to me the thing that left me smiling all the way home was the special and wonderful relationships I witnessed and hopefully captured through my camera.
If you are planning an alternative outdoor wedding at Bridge House Barn or indeed anywhere across the UK and beyond get in touch I’d love to hear from you.
