I love the history and tradition than runs through a military wedding. I especially love the traditional sword exit or ‘Guard of honour’ that many military weddings employ. The comradery between military men is so inspiring and being greeted by your comrades as you exit the church and into your new life as a husband is a beautiful moment.

Military Belvoir Castle wedding

Caz & Nick’s military Belvoir castle wedding was full of amazing historic and military traditions, including a pretty cool cannon salute at the end of the day. They couldn’t have picked a better location for their wedding celebration! Belvoir castle is both imposing and beautiful, and its position high in the vale of belvoir gives it a sense of grandeur perfect for a military wedding. The castle itself was built between 1801 and 1832, but before this, three other castles stood here. The first was originally constructed to defend its Norman owners from attack. So this is a spot steeped in history! Caz & Nick embraced the historic story of the castle by providing their guests with a tour of the castle while we explored the stunning formal gardens for some photographs.

The areas of the castle that were open the couple and their guests throughout the day were just stunning. The ceremony room itself was modelled on Lincoln Cathedral and was a beautiful, light filled space. The bridal suit where the girls got ready in the morning was wonderfully opulent and provided the most beautiful painterly light. The wedding breakfast room was in the state dining room and a grandeur fitting of the occasion, then for the evening celebration the guests were invited to dance the night away in the enormous basement kitchens.
